Relaunching witha2ist

No, I’m not dead, though I do realize that, after more than two years of silence, you probably thought I was. That doesn’t mean there haven’t been some rather significant changes in my life –hence the hiatus– and those changes will almost certainly be reflected here.

To begin with I will be reorganizing what little content I had managed to post here. No, my books are not going anywhere, but other than that… well, let’s just say that it’s time for me to do some spring cleaning, not that there’s much to clean, not considering that this site was barely getting started when things went absolutely crazy on me. Going forward my goal is to try to keep a steady stream of posts coming, probably twice a week, though don’t be surprised if today proves to be a bit of an outlier with two –slightly shorter than average–posts on a single day.

So what have I been up to? Well, over the course of the past two years I lost someone who was very dear to me in a way that involved an awful lot of family drama (don’t worry, I won’t bore you with the details); moved to a different country altogether; published a book I couldn’t even find the time or energy to make a post about (my bad); and then, to top it all off, had my general outlook on pretty much everything shaken to the core a couple of months ago, which brings us to this point. Yes, life can be funny like that, and that will be reflected in the content of my posts.

No, that doesn’t mean I’ve had a complete personality transplant. At the end of the day I’m still me. I still refuse to let anyone tell me what to think or do, I’m still a bit of a contrarian who would rather play the devil’s advocate than go with the flow, and I’m still a curious cat… with the attention span of a five week old kitten. In fact that is one of the more significant changes you are likely to see reflected here, as one of the things I would like to do is share with you whatever it is that has piqued my interest at any given time. There will also be the occasional commentary on whatever is going on in the world, which probably won’t age well, but then again that’s half the fun of looking back.

As usual, the part that is likely to kill my enthusiasm for this project is not so much the project itself, but rather the need to promote the blasted thing. What can I say, social media is most definitely not my scene. In fact I’m not even on facebook, though that is mostly a matter of principle, which I do realize is not doing me any favors as a writer trying to get noticed, but I am still the same control freak I have always been, and I remain fiercely independent (see the bit above about the fact that I haven’t undergone a complete personality transplant).

So welcome to the new incarnation of witha2ist, I hope you enjoy the ride!
